Jason Allen Connell; loving father, loyal husband, devoted son and brother, and friend to many; died in Halifax on April 9, 2014 at the age of 37, surrounded by those he loved. Born in Middleton, NS, Jason had a passion and aptitude for creation; restoring cars with his father, building beautiful wooden furniture, and working with his hands to turn ordinary things into objects of beauty and meaning. This skill at creation made Jason a founding and vital employee at Umbian, Inc. where he served as Director of Engineering and resident technology expert in Halifax. His "whatever it takes" mantra was, and remains, a driving force behind the company's success. Jason graduated from the College of Geographic Sciences (COGS) with an honors certificate in Computer Programming. He was a member of the Lawrencetown United Baptist Church; past member of the Lawrencetown and District Volunteer Fire Department; and, in earlier years, was actively involved with Scouts Canada. Jason enjoyed nothing more than spending time with his friends and family. He is survived by his loving wife, AJ (Langille), Hammonds Plains; his son, William; his daughter, Makayla; parents, Edwin and Leona (Carey) Connell, Clarence; sister, Sarah (Jerome) Silver and their daughter Genevieve, Dartmouth; father- in-law, Jim Langille, Hopewell; sister-in-law, Crystal (Boyd) MacEachern and their children Lachlan and Lauren, Charlottetown; best friend, Raj Sodhi, Halifax and numerous aunts, uncles and cousins. He was predeceased by maternal grandparents, Wilfred and Abbie Veinot; paternal grandparents, Edwin and Mary Connell and mother-in-law Carol Langille. At the family's request, there will be no visitation. The funeral service will be held at 2:00PM, Sunday, April 13, 2014 in the Lawrencetown United Baptist Church, 430 Main Street, Lawrencetown, NS, with Rev. Patty Beals officiating. Interment will be in Fairview Cemetery, Lawrencetown. Reception for family and friends will follow the service in the Lawrencetown Fire Hall, 549 Main Street, Lawrencetown. Family flowers only. Donations in Jason's memory may be made to the Canadian Cancer Society, Lawrencetown United Baptist Church or a charity of choice.
