Jean Marguerite
White
December 29, 1943 – January 10, 2026
Jean Marguerite White - 82 of Brickton, NS passed away peacefully on Saturday, January 10, 2026 with family by her side in Valley Regional Hospital, Kentville. Born in Middleton, she was the daughter of the late Bert and Lorna (Wentzell) Simpson. Mum was a people person and like her mother, she was happiest when in the company of family and friends. Mum was the first to say she couldn't carry a tune but her love of music was as great as Dad's. If you happened to visit on Saturday night, the "oldies" were blaring on the radio. Not a day goes by that I don't have someone say, "I just love your mum." That was mum. She was like a mum and grandmother to many people. Mum loved her hour long chats with her sister Irma from BC. She always said she could find out more local news all the way from BC. Mum was very proud to tell people she was happily married for 58 years. She and Dad were soulmates and best friends. Mum had many different jobs over the years. She loved manual labour and could do anything she put her mind to, including Dept. of Lands and Forest Nursery, apple picking, and flag woman for Dept. of Transportation. In the summertime, almost daily, Mum was famous for using her push lawnmower for hours right up until she turned eighty. People often commented on how our lawns looked like a golf course. Jean is survived by her daughter, Linda Medicraft, Brickton; grandson, Justin (Joanna) Medicraft, Pickering, ON; sister, Irma (Mike) LaRose, Salmon Arm, BC; brothers, Marcus, Thunder Bay, ON; Lester, Middleton; David (Christine), Wilmot; Stanley (Sandra), Brickton; sisters-in-law, Edna Foster, Cambridge; Nicki, Berwick; Joanne, Kingston; and several nieces and nephews. Along with her parents, Jean was predeceased by her husband, Thomas; daughter, Connie; and son, Mark in infancy; brothers, Allen, Arthur, Gerald, and Percy in infancy; sisters, Isabel Bezanson, Pearl Sloan, and Betty in infancy; brothers-in-law, Jack Bezanson, Victor White, Burpee Foster, and Lew Caines; sisters-in-law, Geraldine Simpson, Shirley Caines, Isabel Simpson, and Gloria Moore; and son-in-law, Ricky Medicraft. Thank you to the paramedics for their great care and Dr. Suiter who went above and beyond with her caring ways during mum's final days. In addition, thank you to the nurses at the emergency dept of VRH. Huge thanks also to Gary and staff at Middleton Funeral Home for everything they do. Finally, thanks to all the friends and family that continued to visit mum. It meant the world to her.
