Obituary

BOATES, Jeffrey Keith "Jeff" ~ Age 64, Kingston, Kings Co., passed away suddenly on Monday, June 8, 2020. Born on March 27, 1956, in Middleton, he was a son of the late Reginald A. and Edith C. (MacInnes) Boates. Jeff attended West Kings District High School in Auburn, and later the College of Geographical Sciences in Lawrencetown where he received his diploma in Scientific Computer Programming. He had worked at various jobs throughout his life starting at age 17 which included playing in a band, working as a lineman, selling insurance, and as an IT and Sales representative for Fraser's Pro Home Centre. However, he was mostly known for the many years he owned and operated his computer business, CompuTrax Compatibles. He was a father of three and Papa Jeff to one. Jeff led a colourful life and demonstrated he was both a handyman and jack of all trades capable of any task he set his mind to. His many hobbies throughout the years included ham radio, Morse code, drumming in bands, coaching little league baseball, building houses, woodworking, writing computer software, and tossing horseshoes, all while proudly raising his three boys and running his own business. Jeff was always there to help his friends, family, and community with no regard for the personal costs. He loved following the adventures of his sons and their families, doting on his granddaughter, and playing guitar.  As it is not easy to summarize a great man's life, Jeff will be remembered as a loving husband, father, and grandfather. Jeff will live large in the family's hearts and be profoundly missed. Surviving are his former spouse, Janice Ring, Kingston; sons, Justin (Alison) Boates, Oklahoma City, OK, USA; Joseph (Erica) Boates, Fort Benning, GA, USA; Isaac Boates, Karlsruhe, Germany; granddaughter, Emily Boates; brothers, John (Gail) Boates, Trenton; twin, Stephen (Kathleen) Boates, Kingston; sister-in-law, Janette Boates, Kingston. Besides his parents, he was predeceased by his former spouse, Debbie Phillips (Kingston); brother, Gerard Boates. Cremation has taken place. Donations in his memory may be made to the Heart and Stroke Foundation of Nova Scotia or charity of your choice. Funeral arrangements have been entrusted to Middleton Funeral Home, 398 Main Street, toll free 1-855-825-3448.  Online guestbook may be signed by visiting: www.middletonfuneralhome.com
