Obituary

Den Haan, John Robert ~ Age 73, of Brickton, Annapolis Co., passed away on Friday, January 21, 2022, at home surrounded by his family. He was born on November 21, 1948, in De Kwakel, Netherlands, and was the youngest son of the late Jacobus and Helena (Schwarz) Den Haan. John was a dedicated husband, father, and grandfather. He was the proud owner and operator of Den Haan Enterprises until his retirement. John led by example his entire life as an honest, hardworking, and resourceful man. When he was not at the greenhouse, he could be found cooking soup in the kitchen, tending to the lawn and garden at home, and taking his grandchildren on weekly adventures around the province in the summer. John's love for hockey was evident in his hours spent watching both his sons, grandsons, and the Montreal Canadiens play. Surviving are his beloved wife of 48 years, Darlene  (née Robicheau); children, Josh (Carley), Port George; Luke (Jodi), Clarence; Regaan (Elissa), Newtonville; grandchildren, Autumn, Haden, Madex, Roen, and Jax; siblings, Dirk (Mary) Den Haan; Frank (Cathy) Den Haan; Mitzi (Al) Durham; Tonny (Joe) Leyten; Lea (late Eric) Gebhardt; Lisa (late Peter) Young; Ellie (Danny) Williams; Max (late Charlene) Den Haan; Ineke (Terry) Porter; Karlene Den Haan, and many nieces and nephews. Besides his parents, he was predeceased by siblings, Maria (late John) Gaudet and Lenie (Larry) Fletcher.  Special thanks to all of the health care providers who helped John in his final days, Erica Maynard NP, Victorian Order of Nurses, the palliative care team and to Rev. Leon Langille for his spiritual guidance.  As per John's wishes there will be no visitation or funeral service. Interment will take place at a later date.
