Obituary

SHEARER, John Douglas "Jack" age 69 of Lawrencetown. It is with heavy hearts the Shearer family announces the death of a husband, father, brother, uncle, grandfather & great grandfather on Friday October 24, 2014. Jack passed away peacefully in Valley Regional Hospital, Kentville. Jack was the son of the late Harvey and Etta (Whitman) Shearer. Jack spent most of his life working in construction. He enjoyed puttering and working in his hobby shop. You can find his creations all over Nova Scotia. Jack had an appreciation for all kinds of music, especially classic country rock and gospel. Back in the day, Jack sang, and played the mouth organ and guitar. He also enjoyed going to bluegrass festivals and family gatherings where you were sure to hear a song or two. He was an avid Bingo player who loved the game and all the socializing that went along with it. A few things that held true over the years for Jack were: work, the colour red, ford, family, pets and rum.not necessarily in that order. Jack will be lovingly remembered by his wife of 48 years, the former Marilyn Beals, Lawrencetown and his sons, Johnny (Karen) Shearer, Middleton; Troy (the late Cecilia) Shearer, Cold Lake and Willie Shearer (Tammy Saunders Hines), Greenwood; his sisters, Annette Dumbrell, Lawrencetown; Susan Smith (Jim Lutz), Wilmot; Norma (Rick) Taylor, Lawrencetown; his brothers, Gorden (Shirley) Shearer, Saskatoon; Wayne Shearer ( Carol Beals), Greenwood; Gary (Bev) Shearer, Lawrencetown; his grandchildren, Brandon, Dre, Tonia, Josie, Mythia, Madelyn and Zach and his great grandsons, Brandon Jr. and Tripp; many cousins, nieces and nephews. Besides his parents he was predeceased by his brothers, Bill and Paul and sister, Shirley Langille. A special thank you to Dr. Paul MacLean, Middleton; Dr. Kiberd, Halifax; Dr. George, Halifax, Dr. McMasters, Port Williams, Dr. Davidson, Kentville, and to the nurses and hospital staff from Middleton to Halifax. Cremation has taken place.
