Obituary

HUMPHREYS, John Alfred ~ age 85, of Upper Clements, NS, formerly of Nicholsville, NS, passed away Thursday, September 17, 2020 in the Annapolis Community Health Centre. Born in Blind River, ON but raised in the Fraser Valley, BC, he was a son of the late John "Jack" and Laura (née Spears) Humphreys. A 20-year veteran of the Royal Canadian Air Force, "Big John" retired after many years as an instructor with the Revolving Door in Paradise. He loved the woods and in his younger years was an avid hunter and angler. John was one of Jehovah's Witnesses who found great joy in helping congregation members and others with his big heart, generous spirit, and love of what the Bible teaches. He is survived by his son, Jason (Rebecca) Humphreys, Upper Clements; his daughter, Sandra Bruner, Alberta; younger brother, Gordon Humphreys, Malakwa, BC; grandchildren, Peter (Catherine) Eaton, Cambridge, NS; Eric James Bruner and Kirsten Bruner and great granddaughter Skylar ; nieces Cathy (Brent) Besse; Sharon (Mike) Scott; Joanne; Karen; nephews Adam (Tammy) Humphreys; David and Regina. Besides his parents, he was predeceased by his wife, Inge Ilse "Norma" (née Ludwig) Humphreys; older brother Bob (Anne) Humphreys; sister-in-law Linda Humphreys and step-children Ali Brahim, Fatima Harris and step-grandson Paul. In keeping with John's wishes, cremation has taken place and there will be no visitation. A funeral service through videoconference will be held on Saturday, October 3; at 2:00 pm.
