Obituary

Paull, John Howard - Age 99 of Middleton, Annapolis Co., passed away Thursday, November 2, 2023, in Soldiers' Memorial Hospital, Middleton. Born in Kenilworth, Warwickshire England, he was a son of the late Henry and Dorothy (VanStone) Paull.

John worked as an engineer for several different firms in Ontario. John worked on the development of landing gear for the Avro Arrow which took its first flight in 1958. He manufactured small arms weaponry. John's passion for sailing and racing led to him to teach power squadrons. He also designed footballs for soccer and children's toys. John was a long-time member and very involved with Holy Trinity Anglican Church. He was a long-standing member of the Ionic Lodge No. 73, A.F. & A.M., Middleton, Kiwanis Club and Probus Canada. John was an accomplished violinist taking part in community orchestra and he sang in several community choirs. John was instrumental in helping create the Numerical Control Society of Ontario. He had many interests and liked to be involved with as much as possible. John developed a passion for photography in his later years.

John is survived by his loving wife, Susan; daughter, Brenda (Kevin) Goodlad, Middleton; grandsons, Martin (Melita), Halifax, Stuart (Janele), Victoria Vale; great grandchildren, Terence and Annette; sister, Jill, Kingston, ON; brother, Philip (Peggy), England; stepson, Peter Newcombe, Toronto; step granddaughter, Sophia; several nieces and nephews. Besides his parents, John was predeceased by his first wife, Marilyn "Joan" Paull.

A memorial service (beginning with a masonic lodge tribute) will be held at 11 a.m. Monday, November 6, 2023, in Middleton Funeral Home, 398 Main St., toll free: 1-855-825-3448. Rev. Canon Kenneth Vaughan officiating. Interment will take place in Holy Trinity Anglican Cemetery, Middleton. In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made to Salvation Army or Scouts Canada.
