PETERSEN, John Paul – 93 of New Minas, passed away peacefully on Saturday, December 31, 2016 at the Veteran's Unit of Soldiers' Memorial Hospital in Middleton. Born in Copenhagen, Denmark, he was a son of the late Carl Poul and Inga (Jensen) Petersen. At a young age, John immigrated to Canada with his family and they settled in Montreal. He served in the Canadian Army during WWII. John had a career in sales with Cooper Canada (sporting goods) from which he retired after 40 years of employment. He will be sadly missed by his family. John is survived by his daughter Bettina Webb (Darren Stevens), Oakfield, NS; son Henrik Petersen (Sharon Walsh), Burlington, ON and a grandson Justin. He was predeceased by a son Robert Petersen as well as two brothers Arno and Olé. John's family wish to express their sincere appreciation to the staff of the Veteran's Unit for their compassionate care that they provided to him during his time in this facility. By request, cremation has taken place and there will not be any service. If so desired, donations in memory may be made to your local Food Bank.
