Obituary

WATERFIELD, John "Ed"- 80 of Kingston and formerly of Geary, N.B. passed away at 10:45pm on March 31, 2013 in Soldiers' Memorial Hospital, Middleton, surrounded by his loved ones. Ed was born in St. John's, Newfoundland, a son of the late Annie Waterfield. He was a proud member of the Royal Canadian Corps of Signals and served in the military for 33 years before retiring in Geary, New Brunswick. He had a love for the racetrack, ice-cream, scotch mints and of course music. He loved to share stories about his days in the military and was a well known member of the local band "Hanging In". If you were to ask Ed on any day how he was doing (even if he wasn't doing well) he would tell you "if I was any better I'd be 2 people!" He was the strongest man you could ever meet and never once complained about anything (unless there was no ice-cream in the house). He was a loving husband, father and poppy and loved to tell everyone about how proud he was of his family. He is survived by his wife of 55 years Edna (Randell) Waterfield; his children Ron (Cordene Gerlat), Edmonton, AB, Peter (Duff Gardner), Victoria, BC, Lisa Barrie (Mike Clark), Greenwood, Mike (Tammy), Brandon, Man.; grandchildren Hilary, Kevin, Keisha, Kaylee, Danielle and Noah as well as his faithful canine companions "Moose" and "B.J". He is predeceased by his sister Loraine. Donations in memory may be made to the Oromocto SPCA. Arrangements have been entrusted to Middleton Funeral Home, 398 Main Street, (902) 825-3448. Ed's family encourage all friends to sign the online guestbook and leave contact information so they may be informed of the date and place of Ed's Celebration of Life which will be held later.
