WOODS, John Edward - age 93, of Greenwood, NS passed away peacefully April 14, 2015 in the Veterans Unit, Soldiers Memorial Hospital, Middleton. Born in Gibson Woods, he was the son of the late James and Mae (Ogden) Woods. John was a veteran of the Second World War. After returning home from overseas, he later went to work at Bowater Mersey as a cook and often hauled logs with his team of horses. He had a big passion for horses and he loved to visit the exhibitions, where of course you would always find him hanging out in the horse barns. Everyone knew John for his many trips, rain or shine, between Kingston and Greenwood on his scooter. Many people didn't know his name so they would refer to him as the "little old man that rides the red scooter". He made his trips to the mall every day for his breakfast and scratch tickets. Most people he knew were never sure of their own names because he had a nickname for everyone. John is survived by his daughter Janet (Vance) Bezanson, Greenwood; sons Stanley, Calvin and James, all of Cape Breton; several grandchildren and great-grandchildren. He is also survived by Patricia and Ivan Bezanson and family, who John "adopted" as a family of his own and very close friend Lori Sudsbear. Besides his parents, John was predeceased by daughters Ella and Patricia and his life partner of fifty years, Muriel McBride. Cremation has taken place and upon request, there will be no visitation or service. Donations in memory may be made to a charity of choice. Arrangements have been entrusted to Middleton Funeral Home, 398 Main St., (902) 825-3448. On-line guest book may be signed by visiting: www.middletonfuneralhome.com
