SABEAN, Joseph Freeman-66 of Port Lorne passed away Wednesday, March 13, 2013 in Soldiers Memorial Hospital, Middleton. Born in Saint John, NB, he was a son of the late Freeman and Lulu (Caldwell) Sabean. In his early years he would travel to the United States seasonally to pick apples. Joey worked at M.W. Graves in Berwick and Britex, Bridgetown. Later he was employed at DenHaan's Nursery for 27 years. He spent one season lobster fishing on the Bayview and until his retirement, he operated SCCA Greenhouses. Joey was a charter member of the Port Lorne and District Fire Department, having served 36 years. He is survived by his wife, the former Barbara O'Neil, Port Lorne; daughter, Bonnie (James) Wade, Windsor, NS; sons, Michael (Lisa) Sabean, Middleton; Craig O'Neil (Betty Melanson), Weymouth; Rodney (Penny) O'Neil, Inglisville; sisters, Marie (Armon) Lewis, Port Lorne; Diane (Joey) Bent, East Arlington; brothers, Roger Sabean, Port Lorne; Paul Sabean, Inglisville; 11 grandchildren and several nieces and nephews. Besides his parents, he was predeceased by his granddaughter, Sara O'Neil and sister, Isabelle Walker and nephew, Steven Bent. Cremation has taken place. Visitation will be held 7:00 to 9:00PM, Saturday, March 16, 2013 in the Middleton Funeral Home, 398 Main Street, (902) 825-3448, where the Memorial Service will be held 2:00PM, Sunday, March 17, 2013 with Rev. Dean Dickinson officiating. Interment will be in Fundy View Cemetery, Port Lorne. Donations in memory of Joey may be made the Port Lorne and District Fire Department.
