Obituary

MacDougall, Joseph Linus, CWO Ret'd – Age 87, of Greenwood, NS passed away with his daughter by his side on Monday, August 3, 2020 in Soldiers' Memorial Hospital, Middleton, NS. Born in Dingwall, Victoria Co., NS on December 15, 1932, he was the son of the late David Linus and Elizabeth Jane (Fitzgerald) MacDougall. Joseph attended Dingwall High School, graduating in 1951 and he then joined the Royal Canadian Air Force. He spent 34 years travelling the world with the majority of those years employed in the military as a Flight Engineer. Joseph flew on Flying Boxcars C119s, Northstars, Hercules C130-E models and finished his career in Maritime Command on the Argus and the Aurora. He was one of the original Pearson's UNEF Peacekeepers and was deployed to the Suez Canal for 2 years in 1956. Upon retiring from the RCAF in 1985, he began a new career driving a taxi, eventually owning and operating his own taxi called JL Taxi in Greenwood. Joseph is survived by his 3 children, Barry, Edmonton, AB; Glenn, Virginia, US; and Dianne, Greenwood, NS; and their mother, Eva; along with 3 grandchildren, Jane, Robert and William. Cremation has taken place and in keeping with his wishes, there will be no visitation. A private interment will be held in the St. Lawrence Cemetery, Kingston.
