MELANSON, Joseph Michael Mike 51, of Nictaux, NS passed away Sunday, May 16, 2010 in Soldiers Memorial Hospital, Middleton with his family by his side. Born in Middleton, he was a son of the late Charles and Jean (Wile) Melanson. Mike was employed with Hoyts Moving & Storage for 20 years. He loved NASCAR races, country music and going to concerts. Mike enjoyed building projects and was an avid collector of many different things. He is survived by his spouse Gladys Brewster, Nictaux; son Michael (Jess) Melanson, Dartmouth; daughters, Amy (Scott) Mason and Carmen Flynn, both of New Minas; sister Laura (Gerald) Grant, Nictaux; Brother John (Maryanne) Melanson, Ingersoll, ON; grandchildren Gladys, Veronica, Jesse, Abigail, Liam and several aunts, uncles, nieces, nephews and cousins. Besides his parents, he was predeceased by his brother James and sister Julie in infancy. Cremation has taken place. A memorial service will be held 2:00PM Thursday, May 20, 2010 in the Middleton Funeral Home, 398 Main St., (902) 825-3448. Rev. Bill McLeod officiating. Interment will be in the Nictaux Cemetery.
