GIBSON, Joseph Terrance "Terry" - beloved husband and father, age 64, passed away peacefully surrounded by his family on January 8, 2014. He will be missed dearly by his wife of almost 37 years, Sabine Gibson, and his daughters Milena & Suresh Srikant (Ottawa), Larissa & Paul Hanas (Toronto), and his sons Jody Gibson (Halifax) and Kyron Gibson (Petawawa). Terry also leaves behind to mourn his sister Lorraine & Jackie Head (New Waterford, Cape Breton) and brother Charlie & Georgina Gibson (Cambridge, Ont). He was predeceased by his parents Mary Mullins & James Godfrey Gibson and 2 brothers, Jimmy and Greg. Terry grew up in Cape Breton, a place he loved very dearly. As a young boy of 15 he left for PEI to help support his family. In 1966, at the age of 17, he joined the Canadian Armed Forces, working first as a trooper with the RCDs, and later remustering to the Air Force as an Aircraft Refinishing Technician. Over the course of various postings within Canada and overseas, Terry spent a total of 12 years in Germany; learning the language fluently. It is also where Terry met his wife Sabine, the love of his life. After serving his county for 43 years, Terry retired in Greenwood/Kingston, Nova Scotia. Terry was a kind man who loved his family wholeheartedly. While his children were growing up he took frequent interest in their activities, volunteering for girls and boys soccer leagues as a coach and maintainer for 10 years. He is also well described as a man of a multitude of talents, building beautiful pieces of furniture for friends and family. He seemed to be able to fix anything, and also gave generously of his time to the Kingston Food Bank and Saint Monica's Church. To the end of his days here on earth he thanked the Holy One, blessed be His Name, for the life and love he was given, and for his four children, each of which he was so very proud. He was a man of deep faith believing in the Torah and the Messiah, convinced that "If they do not hear Moses and the Prophets they will not be persuaded even if someone were to rise from the dead" (Luke 16:31) A celebration and a memorial of Terry's life will be held at the Kingston Fire Hall on Sunday, January 12, 2014, at 2:00 P.M. Rabbi Avner Solomon of Congregation Ner Tamid in Halifax will be officiating. Donations in his memory may be made to CTOMC (Coalition of Torah Observant Messianic Congregations) Box 20064, Halifax, NS or HATS (Hands Across the Sea), a cause that was close to his heart.
