Obituary

LAWSON, Joyce Nina- 91 of Kentville, passed away Thursday, October 25, 2012 in Valley Regional Hospital, Kentville. Born in Mount Denson, she was a daughter of the late Everett and Annie (Lockhart) Redden. On July 26th 1940 Joyce married Guy Oscar Lawson and brought up three children at their home in Wilmot. Joyce worked at Stedman's in Kingston for many years in Sales and Office Administration. At 53 she returned to school, graduating from NSCC, Middleton with a Secretarial Diploma. She then continued her career at Annapolis Travel and Hermies Clothing. She enjoyed reading, knitting, playing cards and cribbage with friends and camping with her husband Guy. After she retired, she took up square dancing, line dancing, and Tai Chi. She loved learning and attended Elder Hostil, became interested in genealogy, researching her family history and at the age of 80, took a course in Computers and enjoyed playing computer games, giving her new opponents a good challenge in hearts, checkers and scrabble. She also loved to travel and went on memorable trips to Bermuda, Texas, Vancouver, and Newfoundland. She was a loyal friend and loved her family and she will be sadly missed. Joyce is survived by son; Richard (Mildred) Lequille daughters, Edith (Keith) Rhodenizer, Kentville and Evelyn Lawson, New Minas; sister, Cora Boddy, Wilmot; grandchildren, Scott and Sherry Lawson; Jocelyn England; Sonya (George) Penney; Bradley(Jennifer) Rhodenizer; and great grandchildren, Kyle, Connor, and Michaela Penney. She is predeceased by her husband, Guy, grandson, Dyson, sisters, Ella Lantz, Effie Corbett, Ivy Sweet, Ruby Schofield and brother, Raymond Redden. A private family graveside service will be held Sunday, October 28, 2012 in the North Kingston Cemetery with Rev. Leon Langille officiating. Donations in memory may be made to the Heart & Stroke Foundation of Nova Scotia or a Charity of Choice. Arrangements have been entrusted to Middleton Funeral Home, 398 Main Street, (902) 825-3448.
