December 8, 1942 – March 25, 2025
It is with heavy hearts that we announce the passing of a beloved grandmother, Joyce Marie Lightizer, age 82 of Greenwood who passed away Tuesday, March 25, 2025 in Valley Regional Hospital, Kentville. She was the daughter of the late Ernest and Blanche (Creemer) Aldred. She is survived by her granddaughter Miranda (Shane) Andrews; great grandchildren Donald, Elizabeth, and William; daughter-in-law Patti Lightizer; companion Ralph Collins; sister-in-law Judy Hiltz; sister Edna Curry; many nieces and nephews. Besides her parents, she was predeceased by her husband Blaine and son Joe. Joyce worked her entire career for Canada Post. She started at the Kingston Post Office and retired from the Aylesford Post Office. She enjoyed life and always took every obstacle one day at a time. She enjoyed camping and traveling. She often went to the post office camp outs. She loved family and friends, enjoyed travelling to visit them. Joyce loved spending time with family and friends and supporting any activity they were in. She attended every graduation, rehearsal, and event that came along. She was a dedicated member of Girl Guides and became a Leader. She enjoyed supporting her great granddaughter with her Girl Guides. Joyce loved to cook and followed recipes very closely. Her food always turned out amazing and she loved to host dinners for family and friends. Joyce also enjoyed creating things. She was a beautiful crocheter, quilter, and knitter. She took courses in photography and tole painting and made some beautiful pieces. She loved it outdoors, especially at the shore in Donnellan's Brook. She would watch the boats and seals on the water and enjoyed many walks up the beach. She was always up for an adventure. She spent a lot of her childhood skidooing and visiting camps. She still would not pass up the chance to go side by siding out south. Joyce loved music and card games. She often went to local bluegrass or country music shows. She played many late games of cards, one of her favorites was Skip Boo. She will be dearly missed by her family and friends. Memorial Service will be held 2:00 pm on Saturday, April 5 in Middleton Funeral Home, 398 Main St. 1-855-825-3448. Pastor Christina Bigelow officiating. Donations may be made to Diabetes Canada.
