HOLLEMAN, Judith Anne "Judy",
age 75 of Berwick, formerly of Waterville, Kings Co. It is with sadness that we announce the passing of our Mother and Grandmother, Judith Anne Holleman on Friday, January 20, 2017, in Valley Regional Hospital, Kentville. Born in Berwick, Kings Co., she was a daughter of the late Spurgeon L. and Margaret V. (Baltzer) Nixon. Judy attended Mack Business College and graduated in May 1962 with a stenographic and bookkeeping certificate. She is survived by her son, Christopher; daughter, Jennifer; granddaughter, Tori Lake; great-granddaughter, Cali Mae Fraser; sisters, Joan Thornhill, Patricia Reid, Linda Davidson, Nancy Arenburg; step-granddaughter, Jax Winter Lake and her parents, Troy Lake and Amanda Balsor. Besides her parents, she was predeceased by her husband, Cornelis "Kees" Holleman; granddaughter, Maddison Fraser; sisters, Jean Hall, Florence Hiltz, Janet McGann, Mary Sherman; brothers, Spurgeon Jr. and Gordon Nixon. Judy worked along with her husband in their family business for many years, and carried on with it after he passed away. In later years, she volunteered at the Berwick Food Bank, and was instrumental in reorganizing the food bank, at a time when there was talk of its closing. She spent several years serving on the Board of Directors as well as managing the Food Bank. She was a well-known organist and choir director for many years in the Annapolis Valley. Cremation has taken place and there will be no visitation. A graveside service has taken place in the Berwick Cemetery, with Rev. Sarah Scott officiating. Donations in her memory may be made to Kings Co. S.P.C.A., or a charity of choice.
