Julie O.
Tupper
February 24, 1935 – May 1, 2022
Mrs. Julie O. Tupper , (87) of Coldbrook, Kings Co., N.S., wife of the late Percy O. Tupper, passed away, with her two sons at her side, on Sunday afternoon, May 1, 2022, in the Valley Regional Hospital, Kentville, from heart failure due to the recent decline of her poorly-functioning aortic valve. The bouncing Ukrainian baby girl was born on February 24, 1935, to the late Mary (Prystay) and Thomas Chorney, in Yorkton, Saskatchewan, and was their fourth child of five. Julie was predeceased by her father (1967); husband (46 in 1974); mother-in-law (90 in 1999); mother (96 in 2003); all three older brothers – the youngest, Steve (81 in 2013), Peter (Peco) (87 in 2016), & the oldest, Harry (89 in 2017); and only younger sister - Pauline (82 in 2019). She is survived by her only daughter, Virginia (Paul-Emile Cormier) in N.B. and their children - Damien Pilon (Becca) (BC), Devin (NB), Alexandria (NB), & Natalya (NB); three sons – John (ON), Thomas (NS), & Richard (NS); and sister-in-law Grace (Peco Chorney); as well as numerous nieces, nephews, extended family, & friends. During her school years, she enjoyed reading romance novels and figure skating. After finishing grade nine in Yorkton, Julie left home in the early fifties & started working by cleaning homes in Regina. Wanting more out of life, she joined the Canadian military & worked in Manitoba & Ontario doing administration work. Still not satisfied, she continued her office career in Toronto (where she met her husband from Nova Scotia - who was a master-carpenter, designer, engineer, fabricator, & business owner), by working at various businesses, including De Havilland Aircraft in Toronto, and then, ultimately retired in 1998, after working in the computer room at Scotian Gold in Kentville, & then later, in Coldbrook, Kings Co., Nova Scotia, for 25 years. After retiring, she spent a lot of time outside constructing her rock gardens; plus, planting seeds, tilling, & harvesting vegetables in her two small gardens. Inside, she made many types of crafts, including her famous decorated boxes, plus did some sewing. Julie loved reading; watching old black & white movies, Formula 1 auto racing, gardening & cooking shows, and Survivor; using her iPad; going shopping; and going for long drives (especially back to Toronto - driving all of the way at age 84!). She also spent many hours cooking, cleaning, organizing, & spending time with her family. Julie (Baba) will be greatly missed by us, as she was such a special person and hard-working mother, grandmother, & great grandmother. With her unconditional love & caring attitude, many times, she sacrificed her own happiness & would do anything to please her family. One final thought – something that will be greatly missed by her family & friends is her infectious laugh that always filled a room full of happiness. A private, family ceremony will take place in the future and her urn will be buried with her husband at the Morristown Cemetery in Kings County, N.S.
