Obituary

SIM, Justin Michael "Bubba" – 48, of Auburn, Kings County, passed away on Saturday, November 29, 2025 in Dartmouth. Born in Kentville, he was a son of Kerry Kip Laffin, Middleton and the late Sheila Mary Laffin. Justin was known as Bubba to everyone he called a friend. He attended West Kings High School in Auburn where he played basketball in his youth. Bubba was a huge gamer and loved the Toronto Maple Leafs, the Chicago Bulls, and the Toronto Raptors. Bubba loved his small family along with all his great nieces and nephews who he was blessed to have. He loved hanging out with his best buds – you know who you are. He was the Big Friendly Giant with his infectious smile and a big hug for anyone. Along with his dad, Kerry, he is survived by his sister, Catherine "Cat" Laffin, Kingston; niece Destiny Laffin, Auburn; nephews Tristain, Bridgewater; Athyas Johns, Aylesford; sisters Courtney Currie, New Minas; Megan Currie, Halifax, and Tara Currie, Annapolis; brothers, Michael J.E. Laffin, Canning; Richard Sim, Berwick; Steven Sim, Harbourville; his biological father James Burrell; as well as many extended family members. Besides his mother, Sheila, he was predeceased by twin sisters in infancy and his uncle Robbie. A celebration of Justin's life will be held 3:00 p.m. on Saturday, January 17, 2026 in Middleton Funeral Home, 398 Main Street, 1-855-825-3448. Pastor Darrell Peregrym officiating.
