BECK, Katherine Joan - age 73, passed away on August 11, 2015 peacefully at home into the arms of the Lord. Katherine Joan (Acker) Beck was born October 8, 1941 in Lunenburg, NS, the daughter of Irene (Acker) Fralick. She grew up in First South with her grandparents Ellen and Frank Acker. Katherine had a great love for life. Her grandchildren and great grandchildren held a special place in her heart. Katherine is survived by her husband of 58 years, Robert of Wilmot, NS; son Terry (Heather), North Kingston; granddaughter Nicole (Anthony) Kalicicki, Poughkeepsie, NY; great granddaughters Kayla and Leann and great grandson Ethan; grandson Justin (Maria), Auburn; son Graham (Kathleen), Tremont; granddaughter Laura, Montreal, PQ; daughter Sandra (Peter) Hebb, Nictaux; grandson Jason (Wanda); great granddaughters Isabella and Annie May; great grandson Dameon, Ninette, MB; brother Eddie (Josie) Fralick; nephew Kevin (Dena) and niece Sherry (Robbie) Fahey, Lunenburg; brother David (Cindi) Fralick; niece Barb (Corey) Chapman, Lunenburg; aunts Emily Zinck, June Briand and Shirley (Lauren) Wile and uncles Grevel (Louise) Acker and Harold (Diane) Acker plus many cherished cousins. Katherine also had her "special" friends Pat and Irene, who she enjoyed her coffee and walks with. Katherine was predeceased by grandparents Ellen and Frank Acker; mother Irene (Acker) Fralick; brother Wayne Fralick; grandson Matthew Beck; uncles Charles, Lewis, Allen, James, Theodore, Roy; aunts Grace, Olive, Isabelle, Gladys, Marion, Florence and Lottie. Katherine was a faithful member of the Melvern Square United Baptist Church. She enjoyed being a member of the Kingston Area Seniors Association, playing cards and going on road trips to concerts and plays. Special thank you for Katherine's wonderful care during her illness to Dr. Paul McGuire, the VON and Palliative Care nurses. Thank you to the generosity of Katherine's neighbours and friends for visits and food. Thank you to Pastor Libby Amirault for her visits and prayers. In keeping with Katherine's wishes, cremation has taken place. Visitation will be held 7:00PM - 9:00PM Friday, August 14, 2015 in the Middleton Funeral Home, 398 Main St., (902) 825-3448 where a memorial service will be held 2:00PM Saturday, August 15, 2015 with Pastor Libby Amirault officiating. A reception for family and friends will follow the service. Interment will be in Church Grove Cemetery, Melvern Square.
