DREW, Katherine “Frances” (Whitman) ~ age 89, of Auburn, NS, passed away peacefully at home on Wednesday, May 20, 2026. Born October 8, 1936, in North Williamston, NS, she was a daughter of the late Levi “Lee” and Catherine (Woodbury) Whitman.

Fran lived a life centered around family, kindness, and quiet strength. A devoted wife and mother, she dedicated herself wholeheartedly to raising her five children and creating a warm and welcoming home. Alongside her husband, Reg, she shared a lifelong love of gardening and also worked as secretary for Reg Drew’s Barber Shop for many years.

Fran found joy in life’s simple pleasures. She loved knitting, reading, jigsaw puzzles, bowling, tending to her lawn and gardens, birdwatching and watching her favourite game shows. Independent and hardworking by nature, she was known for her fairness, gentle spirit, and unwavering love for her family. Her greatest happiness came from time spent with her children, grandchildren, and great-grandchildren, all of whom she treasured deeply. She will be lovingly remembered and greatly missed by all who knew her.

Besides her parents, Fran was predeceased by her beloved husband, Reginald Dean Drew, and her sister, Mary Louise White.

She is survived by her brothers, Robert Whitman and John Whitman, and her children: Darlene MacEachern (Fred) and children, Natalee, John, Cindy, and Brett; Bill Drew (Lynn Ann Gloade); Glenda Hirtle (Brian) and children, Marylee, Craig, and Chris; Joanne Crocker (Bill) and children, Ashley, Kristin, and Janyne; and Ken Drew (Lisa) and children, Mackenzie and James. She also leaves behind her cherished great-grandchildren: Liam, Aiden, Catherine, Leah, Ava, Hector, Leeann, Iain, Isla, Logan, Rian, Lucas, Fairah, Axel, Avery, Isabelle, Ivy, Everette (Rhett), Eliana, Eva and Cali; her great-grand dogs, Jack, Zippy, Bright and Flynn.

In keeping with Fran’s wishes, cremation has taken place. A memorial service will be held at 11:00 a.m., Wednesday, May 27, 2026, in Middleton Funeral Home, 398 Main Street, toll free 1-855-825-3448. A reception for family and friends will follow the service, and all are welcome. Interment will take place in Aylesford Union Cemetery.
