Obituary

It is with profound sadness, the family of Kathleen Mae Barteaux, announce the passing of their beloved mother, grandmother, and aunt. Kathleen passed away peacefully at Valley Regional Hospital on Monday, October 21 at the age of 104. A devoted member of her community, Kathleen was known for her warmth, kindness, immense faith, and unwavering spirit.

Born August 21,1920 in Springfield, NS, Kathleen spent her life caring for family and others, nurturing her passions, including her love for gardening and birdwatching. She delighted in watching the hummingbirds and cardinals, as well as many other birds at her bird feeders, finding joy in the simple beauty of nature. Her hands were often busy with knitting and crocheting, creating cherished gifts for family, friends and community members.

Kathleen was a faithful member of the Torbrook Baptist Church since the age of 18 and actively volunteered in the community in her younger years, always ready to lend a helping hand. Her kitchen was always filled with baked goods, and she loved sharing sweet treats, always having some on the living room tables for those who stopped in to visit.

She is survived by her daughter Kaye Dowling; son Kevin (Diane) Barteaux; grandchildren Brenda Handy, Janet Dowling, David (Pam) Dowling, Michael (Jeannette) Dowling, Crystal (Marty) Tattersall, Stephanie (Doug) Armstrong, Kyle (Andrea) Barteaux; nine great-grandchildren; four great-great-grandchildren and many nieces and nephews.

She was predeceased by her parents Caleb and Dorothy (Burgoyne) Acker, husband Haldane Barteaux, siblings Juanita Mailman, Calvin Acker, Marie Williams, and Everett Acker, and son-in law Albert Dowling. Kathleen leaves behind a legacy of love and devotion, cherished by her family and friends who will remember her with great fondness.

The family would like to send specials thanks to staff at Tibbets Home for Special Care, the nursing staff at VRH Emergency department and Medical C unit. As per Kathleen's wishes, a private family service with no visitation will be held on Thursday, October 24 in Torbrook Mines United Church Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to charity of choice. She will be deeply missed by family and all who knew her, but forever remembered for her nurturing spirit and loving heart. Her legacy lives on in the hearts of her children, grandchildren, and great grandchildren.
