HOOPER, Kathleen "Kay" Elda ~ Age 101, of Tibbetts Home, Wilmot formerly of Middleton, passed away peacefully on Monday, December 25, 2023, in Soldiers Memorial Hospital, Middleton. Born on December 14, 1922, in Moncton, New Brunswick, she was a daughter of the late Albert and Mabel (Reid) McKay. Kay and her husband Elmer owned and operated Hooper's Jewelry in Middleton. She was a huge supporter of the Middleton Fire Department, giving as much as possible to the construction of the new hall. She enjoyed taking her Tim Horton lunch with her close friend Deanna over to Port George to take in the picturesque views of the Bay of Fundy which usually ended up with Kay fast asleep while Deanna would read her book until it was time to return home. Kathleen was the last surviving member of her immediate family. Surviving are nieces, Valerie Pitcairn, Halifax; Kathleen Tingley, Truro; Patricia Tingley, Halifax; Karen Sanchez, Kathryn Crites, both of ON; nephews, Matthew Tingley, Waverley; Mark Tingley, Middle Sackville; Greg Tingley, Halifax; good friend Deanna Babin, Middleton. Besides her parents, she was predeceased by her husband of 70 years, Elmer Douglas Hooper; brother Albert McKay, two sisters, Mattie Tingley, Geraldine McKay; niece, Susan Jones; three nephews, Donald Tingley, Reid Kimberly Tingley, and Randolph McKay. As per Kay's wishes, cremation has taken place, and there will be no visitation or memorial service. A private burial will take place at a later date.
