Keith Ivan
Veinott
October 17, 1963 – February 4, 2020
Veinott, Keith Ivan
- It is with broken hearts that we, the family, share the passing of Keith Ivan Veinott in our home in Lawrencetown on February 4, 2020. Keith was surrounded by his family who loved him dearly. Keith died at age 56, after losing a courageous fight against cancer and the intense treatment it required. Keith was born at Soldiers Memorial Hospital in Middleton and was the son of Gerald and Sadie (Thompson) Veinott.
Keith was a wonderful, loving husband of 30 years to his wife Patricia (Daniels) who was the love of his life; and he was a devoted, proud father of two daughters, Brittany (Greg), and Courtney. Keith had a strong friendship and love for his son-in-law, Greg Barkhouse, who he taught to hunt and looked forward to conversations and joking with every day. Keith will be sadly missed by his loving mother, Sadie; his dear brother, Wayne (Crystal) Veinott; special brothers-in-law, Jeff Daniels (Denise), and Kevin Daniels (Sharon); as well as his five nieces (Ashley, Kristen, Grace, Emma, Alysha) and numerous aunts, uncles and cousins. Keith was pre-deceased by his father, Gerald, who he adored and resembled so much with his passion for hunting, fishing, spending time at their hunting camp, and his never-ending support of the Toronto Maple Leafs. He was also pre-deceased by his father-in-law and mother-in-law, Russell and Joyce (Banks) Daniels.
Keith attended Lawrencetown Consolidated School, where he and Patricia met in grade primary and eventually became high school sweethearts when they started dating and then graduated together in 1982. After high school, Keith attended the Radio College of Canada in Toronto, where he graduated in 1983 with an Electronic Engineering Technician diploma, then returned home for a life with Patricia in Nova Scotia. He went on to work at Bell Aliant, formerly Maritime Tel & Tel, for 33 years, where he started in an Installation & Repair position, followed by working as a Network and Cell Technician.
Keith was a loving father to his two daughters, Brittany and Courtney, and they will love and miss him forever. Keith was a dedicated coach to multiple sports teams throughout the years for both girls, and thoroughly enjoyed coaching youth sports. He never missed a school or sporting event for either daughter and enjoyed all his sporting and volunteer positions throughout the years. Keith was an active outdoorsman, lover of all sports, and had a passion for archery and bowhunting, side-by-siding, floating around the pool, and wearing crazy socks his girls got for him. Keith always instilled his love for all these activities and sports when he and Patricia raised their girls. Keith and life-long friend, Jeff (Laurie) Wanamaker, purchased the land where their hunting camp sits, and officially named it Camp VW. Our families will always cherish the memories made at camp over the years.
He will be dearly missed by all his friends and co-workers with whom he enjoyed talks, visits, texts and all the laughs throughout the years. Thank you to all who supported Keith and visited, as we all know how strong Keith's sense of humour was, and his love for chatting and joking was appreciated by all.
A special thank you is expressed to the palliative care team and VON, who provided exceptional support and comfort in our home, as Keith's wishes were to stay at home with his loving family until he passed. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to either of these wonderful organizations, and our family encourages everyone to donate blood, to help others in their fight against cancer and the related surgeries ( www.blood.ca ). In keeping with Keith's explicit wishes, there will be no visitation or funeral service, and cremation has taken place. Arrangements have been entrusted to the Middleton Funeral Home (398 Main Street, Middleton, N.S., Toll Free: 1-855-825-3448)
