CORNELL, Kenneth Robert - 87 of Dartmouth passed away on April 20, 2012 at the Veterans Memorial Hospital, Halifax. Formerly of Middleton and Wolfville. Born in Fredericton, NB, he was the son of the late George and Lillian Cornell (Askew). Ken served with the Carleton York Regiment and received officer training with the Princess Patricia Light Infantry. After the war he joined the Reserves and served with the PLF, Provost and retired as a Lieutenant Colonel with the Halifax Service Battalion. Ken worked for the Department of National Defence (Dartmouth) as mechanical draftsman for many years and went on to teach mechanical drafting at the Middleton Vocational School. Ken is survived by his wife of 63 years Edna (Peet); daughter, Virginia (Dario Ribet), Dartmouth and son, Eric (Sandra), Edmonton; six grandchildren; two great grandchildren; and sister, Sylvia Ferguson (Ottawa). He was predeceased by daughter, Susan (Gibbs) and brother, Ron. Cremation has taken place. A short memorial service will be held 2:00PM, Monday, April 23, 2012 in the Middleton Funeral Home, 398 Main Street, (902) 825-3448 with Rev. Karen Ralph officiating. A reception for family and friends will follow the service. Private family interment will be held in Pine Grove Cemetery, Middleton. No flowers by request.
