Obituary

MCLEAN, Kenneth "Ken" Gilmore , 87, of Harbourville, Kings County, passed away November 8, 2022, at Soldiers Memorial Hospital, Middleton. Ken was born on May 25, 1935, in Barrie, ON.  He was the son of the late C.D. and Beth (McGillivray) McLean.  Besides his parents Ken was predeceased by his brother, Donald McLean.

Ken served in the RCAF for 20 years.  He began his career in 1954 as a Tech Crewman with 108 Communications Flight in Bagotville, PQ, and in 1974 retired as a Flight Engineer with 413 Squadron in Summerside, PE.

Surviving are his wife, Judith (Dowell) McLean, Harbourville; daughters, Janet Lemieux, Lake Cowichan, BC, Jane (Ike Whitehead) McLean, Wolfville, Dee McLean, Halifax; sons, Stephen McLean, Nictaux, and Peter (Wendy) McLean, South Farmington; twelve grandchildren, and seventeen great-grandchildren. Ken will also be missed by his sister Jean (Frank) Martyn, his sister-in-law Muriel McLean, and his many nieces and nephews.

Ken made the selfless decision to donate his body to the Dalhousie Human Body Donation Program.  In keeping with Ken's wishes there will be no service, and a private family celebration of Ken's life will be held at a later date. The family would like to thank the staff at Soldiers Memorial Hospital for their compassionate care. Donations in Ken's memory may be made to the Canadian Cancer Society or charity of choice.
