Kenneth (Ken)
Lawrence Clark
April 24, 1937 – July 13, 2016
CLARK, Kenneth Lawrence "Ken" – 79. Born April 24, 1937 in Saint John, NB. Kenneth Lawrence Clark was the only and much loved child of Lawrence and Ena (Howlett) Clark with Gram and Gramp Clark across the road. Ken grew up among a large extended family of MacConnells and Clarks in the hills of Kincardine, N ew Brunswick . It is here where his strong sense of family, community and commitment as well as his love of adventure and the outdoors was nurtured. The Colony was always home to Ken and he loved to return often to the farm and "the Highlands - where his heart was" with his family and friends. After he graduated from Kincardine school and Southern Victoria High School, Ken went on to graduate from Moncton Tech and taught in McAdam for two years. He began his lifelong professional passion in the automotive industry with General Motors in Oshawa in the summer of 1960. Ken married his high school sweetheart Deanna Jamer in October of 1960 and they remained with GM moving from Oshawa to St. John ' s Nfld and back to Fredericton in 1968. He worked with Clark ' s Chevrolet in Fredericton as the Medium Duty Truck manager until 1979 when he and his business partner Roy Jones ventured to their own dealership Bruce Chev Olds in Middleton Nova Scotia. Ken retired from the GM dealership family in 1994 but never stopped ensuring that friends and relatives ' automotive needs were always looked after. Ken enjoyed sharing his love of the outdoors with friends and family through his many fishing, hunting, canoeing, golfing and snowmobiling expeditions. He had great respect for the woods and water around him. Ken believed in the strength and importance of community. In Fredericton he volunteered with the Fredericton Pony Club and was a member of the Capital Winter Club. In Middleton , he took on roles with the Nova Scotia Automobile Dealers Association as well as the National Automobile Dealer ' s Association. He served as Mayor of Middleton from 1982 – 1985. He served as President of the Lions Club, President of the Middleton Curling Club, golfed at Paragon Golf Course, and was a long standing member and Chairman of the Board of Trustees of St. John ' s United Church. Ken was first and foremost a family man. He will be deeply missed by his best friend and wife of 55 years, Deanna (Jamer), daughters Vicki (Robert Roy) Halifax, Sandra (Richard Whalley) Tantallon, Karen (Paul Bedard) Kemptville,Ontario and dearly loved grandchildren Mikaela Dimick, Victoria Dimick, Justin Bedard, Matthew Bedard, Emily Bedard and Kate Whalley. He is also survived by half-brothers Steve Sorensen, Rick Page and Gary Page. Ken will be fondly remembered as a fun-loving and dependable uncle, cousin, brother in law, neighbour, friend and mentor to many. He holds a special place in the hearts of the many people he touched in his lifetime. Ken's greatest gift to all of us was his genuine love of people and his curiosity and wonder of the world around him. He truly loved life and lived his life fully. "Ken's was a life well lived: wise, generous, welcoming, dedicated, always ready to lend a hand. We will sorely miss him. He left a piece of himself in each one of us." By request, cremation has taken place. Visitation will be held from 2:00 – 4:00 p.m. and 6:00 – 8:00 p.m., Sunday, July 17th in the Middleton Funeral Home, 398 Main Street, (902) 825-3448.
