Obituary

Kenneth Lorrain Luddington

"90 years young"

It is with great sorrow and heavy hearts we share the tragic sudden passing our husband, father, grandfather, great grandfather, uncle, brother, and friend Ken Luddington on the 30 th of April 2020. He was born in Halifax on the 5 th of August 1929, the son of the late James A. Luddington and Anne (Clancy) Luddington, and grew up on a farm in Boylston Guysborough County.

Ken was a proud man full of integrity that loved his wife and family beyond measure. He was an avid gardener and greatly enjoyed planting, harvesting, and spending his time looking after his garden. Ken and Olive loved camping, and attended many festivals, making many long lasting friendships. This was very apparent by the number of people that attended his 90 th birthday celebration last August. Ken was a hardworking man who spent 30 years working for Maritime Tel & Tel. After retiring from there he worked another nine years for the Dept. of National Defence in the Construction Engineering Section at Camp Aldershot. Being raised during the depression years, he knew the value of a dollar and he had no time for laziness.

He was 53 year member of the Masonic order, and was a member of Harmony Lodge # 52 in Aylesford. He was a 50 plus year member of the Order of Eastern Star, Mayflower Chapter # 2 in Middleton. He was a member of the Telephone Pioneers of America. Ken greatly enjoyed watching the heavy horse pulls locally, and traveling to Cumberland Maine each year to see them.

He is survived by his wife of 68 years, the former Olive Iola Parks; sons, Jim (Anna) South Greenwood and Glenn (Melody) Auburn; daughters, Sheri (Rod) MacDonald, Peterborough Ont. and Susan (Stephen) Brown, Coldbrook; son-in-law, Marty Halker, Thomasville, NC; grandchildren, Megan (Kellie), Caleb (Larissa), Jimmy (Karlene), Kyle, Dustin (Shelley), Amber, Olivia (Dan), Lori (Danny), Christen; and seven great grandchildren; sister, Jean Mc Keen; brother, Robert Luddington. He was predeceased by daughter, Pamela Halker; granddaughter, Robin Halker; brothers, Jim, Earle, Bert, Ralph, and Lloyd.

Cremation has taken place and a memorial service, beginning with a Masonic service, will be held at 2 p.m., Sunday, August 23, 2020, in Centennial Park, 1489 Westwood Ave., Kingston.  A live stream of the service will be available for viewing on the Middleton Funeral Home website homepage, by selecting the "livestream" option @ 1:55 pm.
