CLAYTON, Kevin Elsworth – age 67 of Wilmot, NS passed away on Saturday, February 13, 2016 in Valley Regional Hospital, Kentville. Born in Middleton, he was a son of the late Dean and Jessie (Foster) Clayton. Kevin retired from Department of Transportation, Middleton. He was a member of Royal Canadian Legion, Kingston Branch No. 98 and previously a member and past president of Royal Canadian Legion, Lawrencetown Branch No. 112. Kevin was an active member of Branch No. 98 Friday night mixed dart league and was a member of the Royal Canadian Legion for 34 years. He was past member of the Lawrencetown & District Volunteer Fire Department for many years and in earlier years taught Sunday School at Lawrencetown United Baptist Church. He was involved with the construction of the Lawrencetown Youth Arena and refereed hockey for many years. Kevin was a member of the Nova Scotia Equestrian Federation, Nova Scotia Haflinger Club and an active member of the Annapolis Valley Harness Club. He is survived by his daughter, Crystal Clayton Ashe, Grande Prairie, AB; son, Joey Clayton (Emilie Mann), Nictaux; sister, Wanda (Bert) Seely, Amherst; brother, Berton Clayton (Caroline Richter), Greenwood; past companion, Marie-Eve Godin, Kingston; sister-in-law, Shelley Clayton, Fredericton, NB; grandchildren Jasmine Clayton, Riley Ashe and Isabella and great grandson, Daeggen Jay Burwell. Besides his parents, he was predeceased by half-sister Helena Banks and brother Richard Clayton. In keeping with Kevin's wishes, cremation has taken place. A legion tribute service will be held 2:00PM Friday, February 19, 2016 in Royal Canadian Legion, Kingston Branch No. 98, 1472 Veterans Lane, Kingston. Interment will be held in Fairview Cemetery, Lawrencetown at a later date. Donations in memory may be made to the Canadian Cancer Society or charity of choice.
