Grimson Sanford, Kristin DeVany – Age 56 of Middleton Annapolis Co., passed away Sunday, April 24, 2022 in Valley Regional Hospital, Kentville. Born in Perth Ontario April 6, 1966 she was the daughter of Katherine Forrestall, Middleton and the late Colin Donald Grimson of Montreal, Halifax and Calgary. The beloved wife of Nicholas Sanford of Salybia, Dominica and Middleton. Kristin was a gifted and loving woman. The stepmother of Samanari "Sama" and Joric "Maruka" Sanford of Salybia, Dominica. She was the sister of musician, Matthew Grimson who predeceased her. Kristin was a senior pony club member, beginning her riding life at the Halifax Junior Bengal Lancers, was an early member of the Annapolis Valley Hunt, successful and ardent horse show participant and accomplished equestrian. She graduated from Bridgetown Regional High School and St. Mary's University with an honours degree in International Development. Kristin had been a Canada World Youth participant and spent 9 months in Thailand where she worked with her fellow CWY members building a kindergarten, early childhood school. In 1989 she worked on a Plenty Canada demographic project in the Carib Territory of Dominica where she met her husband, "Nico". Kristin worked as a student at the Halifax City Regional Library and the Nova Scotia Archives. In Toronto she was a writer and editor for Angus Reid and worked at Statistics Canada. She was a very active member of the Somalia Immigration Foundation and a loyal volunteer for the NDP party of Canada. She is survived by her husband, Nicholas, her sons and two grandchildren, her mother, Katherine "Kitty" Forrestall and many cousins, and friends who will always remember her for her love and loyalty.
