ENGLAND, Lawrence Robert - age 80 of Wilmot, formerly of Kingston, NS passed away at home January 23, 2017. Born April 28, 1936 in North Kingston, NS he was the son of the late Robert and Winnifred (Allen) England. Lawrence owned and operated a farm in North Kingston and drove an oil truck for Stronach Oils. He received his mechanics license in Ontario in 1954. He owned and operated Stronach Oils Service Station in Kingston for forty-five years. Lawrence was a Life Member of the Kingston Lions Club for 45 years and he received a Milestone Chevron Award. He was also a Life Member of Lions International and past President twice of the Kingston Lions Club. Lawrence was also past Chairman of the Kingston Village Commission for 9 years. He was a member of the Apple Blossom Festival Committee of Kingston as well as a member of Kingston United Baptist Church. Lawrence is survived by his wife of fifty-five years Elizabeth "Betty" (Johnson) England of Wilmot; daughters Shirley England of Beaver Lodge, Grande Prairie, AB, Deborah Spidell of Forest Glade; sons Jeffery (Debbie) England of Black River, Donald England of Wilmot; Sister Beatrice (Paul) Pinch of Wolfville Ridge; brothers John (Heather) England of North Kingston, George (Maureen) England of New Brunswick; grandchildren Ashlee (Ken) McQuaig, Andrew England (Amber Harvey), Ariel England (Nick Greenough), Trevor (Lydia) Spidell, Tracy (Adam) Wentzell, Stephanie England-Dominey (Richard Dominey); great grandchildren Ty Wentzell, Marissa Spidell, Koen Dominey and Matthew England. Besides his parents, Lawrence was predeceased by his first wife, the former Ethel Lightfoot and an infant daughter. In keeping with Lawrence's wishes, cremation has taken place. A Memorial Service will be held at 2:00 PM, Saturday, January 28, 2017 in the Kingston United Baptist Church with Rev. Barry Dixon and Rev. Leon Langille officiating, beginning with a Kingston Lions Club Tribute. A reception for family and friends will follow the service. A private interment will take place at a later date in the North Kingston Cemetery. Donations in Lawrence's memory may be made to the Kingston Lions Club.
