Obituary

Caldwell, Leon Gerald ~ age 79 of Middleton, formerly of Lawrencetown, NS passed away peacefully with family by his side on Tuesday, November 14, 2023 in Soldiers' Memorial Hospital, Middleton. Born in Middleton, he was a son of the late Stewart and Margaret (Taylor) Caldwell. After working in various grocery stores, Leon was employed for 37 years with Britex as a foreman. He was a past Sunday School teacher, Deacon and Usher with the Lawrencetown United Baptist Church. Leon was an avid gardener and enjoyed hanging out in his workshop and was a huge Kitty Wells fan. He was a friend of Bill W. and we will miss his quick wit, big smile and great hugs. A special thank you to the doctors and nurses of Soldiers' Memorial Hospital, Medical Unit for all their care and compassion and a heartfelt thank you to friends and neighbours on Magee Drive for your kindness, support and daily check-ins. He is survived by his loving wife of 54 years, Hilda; step-sons, David (Heather) Steadman, North Williamston; Bruce Steadman (Holly Connell), Nictaux; step-daughters, Vicki Tidd (Joseph), Digby; Janice Steadman, Brantford, Ontario; Ann Steadman (Steve Moore), South Farmington; son, Craig Caldwell, San Rafael, Costa Rica; brothers, Lawrence (Nancy) Caldwell, Paradise; Bernard Caldwell, Centrelea;  known as Grampy Caldwell to step-grandchildren, Adam (Tara) Steadman, Canaan; Dr. Amanda Steadman (Mark Briner), Windermere; Matthew Tidd (Beth), Digby; Brandon (Monica) Tidd, Kitchener, Ontario; grandchildren, Travis and Kaytlyn; great step-grandchildren, Jessica, Hannah, Matthew, Zachary, Benjamin, Nathan, Cohen, Chloe; great great step-grandchildren, Heidi and Myles and numerous nieces and nephews. Besides his parents, he was predeceased by his brother, Donald. In keeping with Leon's wishes, cremation has taken place and there will be no visitation or service. A private family interment will take place at a later date. Donations in memory may be made to the Multi Addiction Centre Society, North Kingston or Lawrencetown United Baptist Church or charity of choice.
