Obituary

REEVES, Leon Edward ~ Age 82, of Prospect, Kings Co., passed away on Thursday, May 18, 2023, in Valley Regional Hospital, Kentville. He was the beloved husband of 57 years to Patricia (Canavan) and loving and proud father to Tracey (Robert Rogers), Kelley (Rick Hiltz), Marcus (Jen Walker) and Jodey (Ryan Cocker). Leon was fortunate to be Grandpa to Abigail, Ashley, Roderick, Jazz, Felicity, William, Ethan and Vivienne. He was predeceased by his parents, George and Florence Reeves; brothers, Ronald and Walter; sisters, Shirley (Leroy Connors) and Betty; and in-laws, Gordon and Clara Canavan. He is survived by sister, Evelyn (Ralph Sabean); brothers, Harold (Ruth) and Henry (Frances); sisters-in-law, Marilyn and Linda; and numerous nieces and nephews.

Leon was a proficient jack of all trades. He was a truck driver for James Bezanson Produce delivering produce to Cape Breton and around the Maritimes. While working with Howard Little Excavation, he enjoyed the challenge of lifting and relocating buildings. He spent much of his life as a carpenter and built numerous houses in and around the Cambridge area. As well as houses he has rebuilt trucks, tractors and a bulldozer.

After being approached by the Northville Farm Heritage Centre to move a building on the site he was hooked. He became very involved as a member and Director at the Centre. He worked on the windmill set up and the additions of various buildings on the grounds. He also helped with the installation of the weighing scales and could often be found using them weighing in tractors, horses or oxen at various pulls.

He was a big Toronto fan cheering on the Jays as well as the Leafs. One of his favorite things to do was going for drives and checking out different ice cream sites along the way.  He also enjoyed cooling off at the shore.
