BEALS, Leslie "Les" Churchill, 83 of South Williamston passed away peacefully at Mountain Lea Lodge on August 3, 2011. Born in Inglisville, he was the son of the late Elvin and Elizabeth (Burns) Beals. Les was self - employed for most of his working career. He ran his own logging, trucking and excavating business. He was also a licensed mechanic, who owned and operated Les' Used Cars, a salvage yard, and a garage. Les ran a Christmas tree lot for many years, and was involved in stock car racing. He loved the outdoors and spent many hours at the woodlot, pruning Christmas trees, cutting logs and firewood. Not far behind him in any of these ventures, was his devoted and loving wife of 58 years Elsie who passed away in 2004. Les is survived by his daughters, Marilyn (Jack) Shearer, Lawrencetown; Lorraine (Randy) Neily, South Williamston and son, Ted (Patty) Beals, South Williamston; sister, Stella Brewer, Halifax; half-sisters; Carolyn King and Alice Darr; half-brothers, Ronald, James and Wayne Stoddart; grandchildren, Johnny, Troy, Willie, Lori, Jeff, Alex, Samantha and Charles; great-grandchildren, Mythia, Brandon, Dre, Josie, Elijah and Ciara and several nieces and nephews. Les was predeceased by his beloved wife, Elsie (Gaul), sisters; Viola Walker, Isabel ONeil, Laura Corkum, brother, Floyd Beals, half - sisters; Myrna Penny and Dorothy Veinot, half- brothers; Raymond and Harold Stoddart. Visitation will be held from 7-9 p.m. Wednesday, August 10, 2011 in the Middleton Funeral Home 398 Main Street (902) 825-3448 where the funeral service will be held 2:00 p.m. Thursday, August 11, 2011, with Pastor Patty Beals officiating. A reception for family and friends will immediately follow the funeral service. Interment will be in Fairview Cemetery, Lawrencetown. Donations in memory may be made to the Alzheimer Society of Nova Scotia, Heart & Stroke Foundation of Nova Scotia or Fairview Cemetery.
