Obituary

Garnett, Leslie "Sonny" Elmer – of Forest Glade

It is with great sadness that we announce the passing of Leslie 'Sonny' Elmer Garnett, 91, of Forest Glade, NS, who passed away peacefully at home, in his own way, much like he lived his whole life.

Sonny was predeceased by his parents Norman 'Jack' Garnett and Daisy Garnett (Lee), son Brian Garnett, brothers; one in infancy, Robert 'Bobby' Garnett, Donald 'Donnie' Garnett, John 'Johnny' Garnett, Charlie Garnett, sisters; Margarite 'Maggie' Lutz, Eileen 'Honey' Costa, Thelma Jorritsma and Ramon 'Mona' Pearl.

Sonny is survived by his devoted wife, Doris May Garnett (Salsman) of 69 years, son David Garnett, sister Jeannette Dyksterhuis, grandson Jody Garnett, granddaughters; Sherry Grant (John MacIsaac), Shelley Garnett (Steven Llewellyn), Melanie Collins (Mark), Angela Garnett (Billy Joe Leclair), Ashley Garnett (Albert Hebb), Courtney Garnett (Morgan Lynch), great-grandchildren; Logan, Coltin, Kelsea, Hayley, Hayden, Coen, Cole, Mason, Ira and Maverick and nieces and nephews as well as many dear friends.

Sonny will be fondly remembered for his sharp mind, telling you like it was and greeting you or leaving you with a smart remark. He had a great love for animals, especially mules, and always seemed to understand them, often when others couldn't. He had a gift for healing animals and many people sought his advice. He had many unique experiences with animals, and everyone enjoyed hearing his stories about trading and breaking horses, rodeo, traveling by box car train with horses, working in the woods and about his pet chimp Tarzan.

A celebration of Sonny's life will be held at 3 p.m. Sunday, May 1 st in Middleton Funeral Home 398 Main St., Middleton toll free 1-855-825-3448. Interment will follow in Church Grove Cemetery, Melvern Square. All are welcome to meet at the Forest Glade Community Hall 745 Forest Glade Rd., for a reception. Donations can be made in his memory to the Canadian Cancer Society or to a charity of one's choice. On-line condolences may be made through www.middletonfuneralhome.com
