Obituary

WHITMAN, Lester Aubrey CD – age 87 of Inglisville, NS, passed away on Thursday, March 1, 2018, in Soldiers' Memorial Hospital, Middleton. Born in Inglisville, he was a son of the late Clarence and Olive (Corkum) Whitman. Lester retired as a cook from the Royal Canadian Army, having served in Cyprus and Egypt. He had a love for John Deere tractors and the outdoors, spending quality time hunting and fishing with his best friend and nephew, Gordon Whynot. He also enjoyed puttering around his yard. Lester lived a full life and lived his life his way. He is survived by his daughters, Sharon "Sherry" (Frank) Edison, Pine Grove, Lunenburg, Co. NS; Marguarite "Peggy" (Mark) Veinotte, Mahone Bay, NS; sisters, Betty (Eric) O'Neil, Bridgetown;  Frances (Earl) Whynot, Brickton; brothers, Carroll Corkum, Lawrencetown; Lawrence Whitman, Bridgetown; grandchildren, Tabatha Dorey, Bridgewater; Shawn (Kyra) Dorey, Bridgewater; great grandchildren, Monika, Tamisha, Sahara, Chauncy, Ashley, Alexandra, Jasper; great great grandchildren, Cohen, Fortune and several nieces and nephews. Besides his parents he was predeceased by his daughter, Deborah Dorey. As per Lester's wishes there will be no visitation or service at this time. A Celebration of life will be held at the Inglisville Community Hall, 1407 Inglisville Rd. Anna Co., from 2-4 on Saturday, March 10, 2018. Arrangements have been entrusted to Middleton Funeral Home 398 Main St. 902-825-3448. Donations in Lester's memory may be made to Heart and Stroke Foundation of Nova Scotia or a charity of choice.
