Linda Marie
Drew
January 6, 1947 – June 11, 2025
Sadly, our beloved Mom, Linda Marie Drew (nee Ernst), 78, of Berwick, NS, passed away on Wednesday, June 11, 2025, after courageously battling a rare complication, calciphylaxis, from dialysis and medication in Valley Regional Hospital, Kentville. Fortunately, she had the precious time and mindset to be able to make her personal choice. She was so brave! Mom was born on January 6, 1947, to the late Audrey (Veinotte) and Murray Ernst in North River, NS. She was raised by loving Aunt Ernestine and Uncle Eldon Acker. She was a devoted mother to her three children, Shelley (Sidney) Robertson, Darren (Marianne) Drew, and Shawn (Laurie) Drew, cherished grandchildren, and great-grandchildren. Special relationships with grandchildren, Melody, Kira, and Logan. Survived by half-siblings, Mildred (Willis), Ivy (Richard), Gwen (Darrell) and Iris (David), Reid In December 2011, after 48 years, she finally made her break and achieved independence, autonomy, and self-sufficiency. Mom was so excited when she bought her very own car, found an apartment, adopted a new furry friend named Maxie, and settled into her new life. She reunited with her old friends and made many new ones in the years that followed. Diane, Sherrie, Chuck and Deb, Gordon and Donna were among her closest friends. In 2014, Mom found her long-lost sister, Beth, brother-in-law, Don, and her extensive family. They welcomed Mom and us into their family with love. Four years later, Mom lost her sister Beth to cancer. But that time was precious. Mom enjoyed a special relationship thereafter with Beth's children, Rebecca (Gerry), Scott (Michelle), Jennifer (Martin), Gord (Chantelle), and Ralph (Deb). Mom had an impact on each person she interacted with, and you were all special to her. Mom was courageous, inspirational, kind, loving, full of laughter, and an amazing listener. Always ready with a hug and a shoulder to cry on. Family and friends have told us "Linda means so much to our family", "she was always smiling and knew how to make us laugh", and you were "never hungry at her table". She was a great cook. Mom loved her flower gardens and loved to spend time outside working on them, which everyone who came by admired. She enjoyed having her friends gather in her yard for the summer concerts on Thursday nights, the spontaneous card games with Sherrie, and discussions while watching their favorite show General Hospital. Mom had daily phone conversations with Diane to catch up on the news, Chinese food every once in a while, weekly bingo with Shelley, and having tea and a chat with her circle of family and friends. In lieu of flowers, please consider donating to Safe Haven Rescue or Thalia Cat Rescue in Mom's name. No visitation by request. All are welcome to attend her Celebration of Life which will be held in the Middleton Funeral Home, 398 Main Street, toll free 1-855-825-3448, from 1:00 pm to 4:00 p.m. (with reflections at 2:00 p.m.) on Friday, June 20, 2025.
