EVANS, Lloyd Sampson
- It is with great sadness that we announce the unexpected loss of Lloyd Sampson Evans on June 26, 2018 at the age of 76. Lloyd was born July 5, 1941, in Middleton, NS to his parents Herbert and Elsie (Brink) Evans and was the youngest of three boys. He enjoyed life and taking care of others above all else. He was predeceased by his parents and brothers, Roy and Ronald. Lloyd is survived by his wife of 58 years Shirley, his sons, Chris (Barb) of Liverpool, Terry (Amy) of Wilmot, and daughter, Trish (Peter) of Waldon as well as grandchildren, Allyson, Colby, Colton, Mandy (Morgan), Melissa, Shawn, and Devon. He was a leading agriculturalist with the Canadian Federation of Agriculture where he served for 12 years in the development of the Farm Safety Organization and Farm Safety Handbook. He served on the executive of the Canadian Federation of Agriculture and was on many National Agricultural Committees. He served as President of the Nova Scotia Federation of Agriculture, as well as Presidential terms with Horticulture Nova Scotia, the Nova Scotia Grain Commission, the Annapolis County Federation of Agriculture, and the Wilmot Community Centre. In 1992 Lloyd was awarded the Governor General medal for his outstanding work for Canada. A visitation will be held Monday, July 2nd from 7-9pm at the Middleton Funeral Home, 398 Main St. 902-825-3448 from where a Funeral Service will be held on Tuesday, July 3rd at 2pm with Rev. Leon Langille officiating, interment in Holy Trinity Cemetery. A reception will follow at the Nictaux Fire Hall. In lieu of flowers donations can be made to the Heart and Stroke Foundation, the Society of Farm Safety Nova Scotia or a charity of choice.
