Born on August 30, 1930, he grew up in difficult times. As a young man, he enjoyed a carefree lifestyle traveling the many paths of life. From peddling fish in Nova Scotia to joining the Navy to running away with the Circus, and traveling the country, Lloyd enjoyed the many experiences and lessons of his early adulthood. Eventually returning to Nova Scotia, where he married and started a family, he worked various jobs until finally settling into life as a Police Officer. He was a man who was dedicated to his faith, his family, and his desire to contribute positively to his community. His quiet strength was the cornerstone of our family and his love was a blessing to many. Always there to help someone in need, you never really knew who would be at the supper table or even the breakfast table. He enjoyed his role as parent and provider, and welcomed many 'children' into the home. His capacity to love unselfishly was rewarded by the joy he received through his work at the Children's Training Centre. He enjoyed his work there thoroughly, until its closure and his retirement. Over the years, he engaged in many community and social activities. He was a volunteer fireman and loved his role as 'Sparky' the fire prevention mascot for 35+ years. He was a Cub Scout leader, member of the Freemasons, and participated in the Christmas Daddies Telethon. Creatively, he had many talents. He was a gifted artist who's work included drawing, painting, sign work, and cartoons. He was a musician who played piano, accordion, guitar, base horn and drums. He was a handyman, loved to learn new skills and was always tinkering. Dad was a teacher. He used his struggles and triumphs as lessons. Hard work and a commitment to always do better has led him through a long and fulfilling life. We will miss the stories, the wisdom and physical presence but we are comforted to know that he will live on in our hearts and memories forever. Special thanks are extended to Dr. Muise and the nursing staff of 3rd Floor East - Cardio Unit for their compassionate care during those final days.
