LOIS LEWIS PASSES AWAY AT AGE 100
LEWIS, Lois Genevieve
– Age 100 of Dempsey Corner, Kings Co., passed away on Monday, March 14, 2016, in the Valley Regional Hospital, Kentville. Born in Forties Settlement, Lunenburg Co., she was a daughter of the late Austin J. and Roxie B. (Veno) Brown. Lois was a member of the Berwick Baptist Church and had been a former member of the W.W.S. Auxiliary of the church and the Weston Women's Institute. She was a avid rug hooker and was a founding member of the "Rags to Riches" group. Lois had a green thumb and was a passionate gardener. She was devoted to her family, friends and community. Surviving are sons, David (Rosalind), Almaty, Kazakhstan; Michael (Carla), Donnellans Brook; daughters, Jean (Cyril) Huntley, South Berwick; Betty Ann (Jim) Sparks, Fredericton, N.B.; grandchildren, Susan, Reg, Nancy, Scott, Joyce, Mary Ellen, Anthony, Elizabeth, Evan, Kyle and Fiona; 13 great-grandchildren; seven great-great-grandchildren; brother, Charles (the late Frances) Brown, Ontario; sisters, Nina (the late Jim) Moody, Berwick; Beatrice (Carl Mosher) Reeves, Forties; sisters-in-law, Arleen Brown, Tremont; Jennie Trask, Aylesford East; Eleanor Banks, Greenwood; brother-in-law, Ashton Reeves, Forties; several nieces and nephews. Besides her parents, she was predeceased by her husband, Lloyd W. Lewis; son, Mannie (Annette); brothers, Harley, Clifford, Fayne, Leith, Donald, Robert and Dale; sisters, Shirley Reeves and Ella Reeves. Visitation will take place from 6-8 p.m., Thursday, in the Berwick Baptist Church (Chipman Annex), 265 Commercial St., Berwick, and the funeral service will take place 2 p.m., Friday, March 18, in the church. Pastor Isaac Russell will be officiating, with a reception to follow. Interment will be in the Aylesford Union Cemetery. Family flowers only, donations in her memory may be made to the Berwick Baptist Church, Weston Community Hall or to any charity.
The family would like to say a special thank you to the V.O.N. and Home Care workers, in particular Ruth and Bonnie for the very good care and concern shown to their mother.
