PENNY, Lois Irene – 72 of Nictaux, passed away Saturday, April 23, 2016 in Mountain Lea Lodge, Bridgetown. Born in North Kingston, she was the daughter of the late Harold Earl and Lucy Pansy (England) Hirtle. Lois was a stay at home mother, who devoted herself to her family. She enjoyed cooking for family and friends and was a former member of the Nictaux Firettes. Lois is survived by daughter Wanda (Keith) Cole, Nictaux; sons Steven (Sandra), Victoria Vale, Darrel (Dawn), Hamilton, ON and Glenn (Joan), Centrelea; brothers Walter (Betty) Hirtle, Kingston, Carl (Alice) Hirtle, Mt. Uniacke, William Hirtle, Torbrook Mines and Howard Hirtle, Ontario; grandchildren Justin, Nathan and Rachel; great grandson Jaxon. She was predeceased by her husband Reginald; brothers Lester, Clarence, Alton and Donald. Visitation will be held from 7:00 to 9:00 p.m. Monday, April 25 th in the Middleton Funeral Home, 398 Main St., (902) 825-3448 where the funeral service will be held at 2:00 p.m. Tuesday, April 26 th with Rev. Leon Langille officiating. Private interment will be in the Nictaux Cemetery. Donations in memory may be made to the Heart & Stroke Foundation of Nova Scotia or to a charity of choice.
