Lorna Jean
Snider
July 11, 1947 – September 5, 2023
Lorna Jean Snider, a beloved daughter, sister, aunt, wife, mother, grandmother, and cherished friend, passed away on September 5th, 2023, leaving a void in our hearts that can never be filled. She was born on July 11, 1947, in the picturesque town of Gaspe Bay, Quebec, and was the loving daughter of Ruth and Herb. Lorna's life was a beautiful journey, marked by her unwavering love and devotion to her family and her enduring friendships. Her childhood was filled with laughter and shared adventures with brother Bruce and sister Arlene (predeceased), creating lasting bonds that would remain close to her heart throughout her life. In the early 50s, Lorna's family embarked on a new chapter, relocating to Ottawa where she would later meet the love of her life, Dan Snider. On August 19th 1967, Lorna and Dan exchanged vows, beginning a loving and enduring partnership that would span over 5 decades. Together, they raised two wonderful children, Kristina and Scott, who were the pride and joy of Lorna's life. Lorna was a loving and devoted mother, instilling in her children the values of kindness, perseverance, and the importance of family bonds. She adored her role as "Nana" to her two cherished grandchildren, Evan and Liliana, and showered them with love and affection. Throughout her career, Lorna worked diligently at the Bank of Nova Scotia, where her professionalism and dedication earned her the respect and admiration of colleagues and clients alike. Her warm and welcoming presence made every day brighter for those who had the pleasure of working with her. Lorna's passion for books was well-known to all who knew her. She was an avid reader, and her home was adorned with shelves filled with literary treasures. Her love for books was only surpassed by her love of wool. Whether she was lost in the pages of a novel, exploring the realms of fiction and non-fiction alike, or tirelessly knitting sweaters, scarves, and socks for her loved ones, her dedication to these two pursuits was unwavering. In the golden days of autumn, Lorna could be found spending time in PEI with her close friends, forging unforgettable memories. The gentle waves, the salty sea breeze, and the laughter shared with dear companions were the ingredients of a perfect PEI autumn, a time when nature's beauty mirrored the warmth of her heart and the love that surrounded her. Lorna's kind-hearted and caring nature endeared her to many, and her circle of friends was extensive, with many friendships lasting a lifetime. She had a unique ability to make everyone she met feel loved and cherished, and presence brightened the lives of all who had the privilege of knowing her. Lorna Snider will be remembered as a loving wife, mother, aunt, grandmother, and dear friend, whose love and kindness touched the lives of many. Her memory will continue to inspire us to cherish our loved ones, embrace the joy of reading, and nurture the bonds of friendships. Rest in peace, dear Lorna. Your light will forever shine in our hearts and your memory will be cherished eternally. Cremation has taken place. There will be no funeral service at this time, as per Lorna's wishes. In lieu of flowers, the family kindly requests donations to the Cancer Society, Heart and Stroke Foundation or the Annapolis Valley Regional Library.
