Obituary

ROBERTSON, Louisa Katherine ~ Age 98, of Garland, formerly of Kingston, Kings Co. NS, passed away on Thursday, May 22, 2025, at home, with family at her side. Born on Campobello Island, New Brunswick, on February 19, 1927, and was the daughter of the late Minnie (Cline) Alexander Slack and Wilford Alexander of Campobello Island, NB. Louisa was named after her grandmother on her father's side.  She was predeceased by her husband John "Robbie" Alexander Robertson (1924-2008) and her two brothers, Godfrey Alexander and Murray Alexander.

Survived by her two children, daughter, Sharon Hatt and son, Lawrence "Larry" (Darlene) Robertson. Her beloved grandchildren are Anna (Stefan) Alexander, Lori (Devin) Lowe, Natalie (Chris) Comeau, Shanara Hatt, and great grandchildren, Kael, Felix, Elroy and Rowan Lowe.

Louisa lived with Larry and Darlene in their home in Garland the last 13 years of her life where she enjoyed sitting on her deck listening to the birds, the peepers and the peacefulness of her granny suite. Louisa was most proud of her children and claimed that her greatest achievement was raising her two children. In her lifetime, Louisa was an avid swimmer; loved art & painting; was a shuffleboard champion in a pro league. She enjoyed their trips to Florida with John each year, taking long walks, exploring destinations in Florida as well as traveling around the world meeting people and trying different foods.

She was an avid member of the Holy Trinity Anglican Church in Middleton. In her younger days she was active in Brownies, Girl Guides and became "Madam Commissioner" in the Greenwood area; active in the Greenwood Saddle Club and raised money for Heart and Stroke and Red Cross Society. She worked in the family businesses, Hillcrest Neighborhood Store across from the new PMQ's and Atlantic Crafts and Arts Supplies in Greenwood. Louisa was quite talented, loved art, painting and flowers, and took art classes using oils and watercolours. She enrolled in the Commercial Art Course at Middleton Vocational School where she earned her certification. At the same time her son, Larry took the Architectural Drafting course.

There will be no visitation at the funeral home. A Service of Celebration of Louisa's life will take place at 2:00pm on May 30th in Holy Trinity Anglican Church, Middleton. Rev. Sue Channen is officiating, with a reception to follow. Interment will be in Holy Trinity Anglican Cemetery.
