Obituary

DURLING, Louise Ethel ~ Age 96, of Middleton, Annapolis Co., N.S., passed away on Saturday, March 7, 2026, in Mountain Lea Lodge, Bridgetown, with her family by her side. Born on September 9, 1929, in Quebec City, Quebec, she was a daughter of the late Anthony and Bertha (Brown) Sturton. Louise was an active member of Holy Trinity Anglican Church, Middleton and the A.C.W. She was an active golfer, curler and loved to play bridge. She had been a member of Eden Golf and Country Club and Middleton Curling Club. Louise and her husband Les enjoyed many trips in North America and abroad.  Louise's grandchildren and great grandchildren will always fondly remember times spent at the cottage, baking, hiking at Delaps Cove, Riverside Park, and the Tickle Trunk. She will be remembered by her family and many friends. Louise was the last surviving member of her immediate family. Surviving are son, Michael (Marie) Durling, Belleville, Ontario; daughter, Christine (Bob) Powell, Upper Granville; grandchildren, Luke (Esther), Michael, Lucy (Ross) and Emily (Liam); great grandchildren, Lilah, Hailey, Daphne, Nathan and Harry; sisters-in-law, Arlene and Irene Sturton. Besides her parents, she was predeceased by her husband, Aubrey L. "Les" Durling; sisters, Mary and Eleanor Sturton; brothers, Colin and Andy Sturton. There will be no visitation. A private graveside service for family members will take place at a later date in Holy Trinity Anglican Cemetery, Middleton. Donations in memory may be made to Mountain Lea Lodge Activity Program. The family would like to sincerely thank the dedicated staff in the Sunset Unit at Mountain Lea Lodge for the excellent care provided to Louise during her time there.
