Obituary

JENSEN, Luther Jacob - 88, of Berwick, formerly of Middleton and Melvern Square, passed away Monday, September 12, 2011 in Valley Regional Hospital, Kentville. Born in Salmonhurst, NB he was a son of the late Carl and Olga (Swanson) Jensen. Luther was a veteran of the Second World War and later retired as a Draftsman from CFB Greenwood where he had been president of UNDE Local 403 for many years. Luther was instrumental in starting up the Greenwood Credit Union, always interested in the betterment of the community. He was a member of the Middleton Baptist Church, Royal Canadian Legion, Branch No.1 Middleton and Ionic No. 73 Masonic Lodge, Middleton. He is survived by his daughters, Karen (Barry) Orchyk, Nanaimo, BC; Roseanna (Ken) Wright, Lantzville, BC; Elaine (Glendon) Bent, Paradise; stepdaughters, Derreth Coulstan, Halifax; Doreen (Paul) Guppy, Port Williams; Sharon (Alan) Horgan, Dartmouth; daughter-in-law, Betty Jensen, Three Hills, AB; sons, Christopher (Joanne) Jensen, Nictaux Falls; Steven (Jane) Jensen, Edmonton, AB; sisters, Petrea Taylor, Hilda Roussy, Caroline Melo, all of Victoria, BC; grandchildren Patrick , Jason, James, Emily, Joseph, Jesse, Sarah, Carlene, Paige, Benjamin as well as 15 great grandchildren. Besides his parents, he was predeceased by his first wife Mille Kyte (1994), second wife Barbara Coulstan (2009), son Eric (2006), brothers Anders and Peter. Cremation has taken place. Visitation will be held 7-9PM Friday, September 23, 2011 beginning with a Masonic Service conducted by Ionic No. 73 in Middleton Funeral Home, 398 Main St., (902) 825-3448. Memorial service will be held 2:00PM Saturday, September 24, 2011 in Middleton Baptist Church, Rev. Danny Smith officiating. A reception for family and friends will follow the service. Interment will be in Church Grove Cemetery, Melvern Square. Family flowers only. Donations in Luther's memory may be made to Valley Regional Hospital or charity of choice.
