Lynda Lou
Turner
December 25, 1939 – April 12, 2022
Turner, Lynda Lou – Age 82 of Auburn Kings Co., passed peacefully Tuesday, April 12, 2022 in Valley Hospice, Kentville.
As most of you know, I have spent the last couple of years writing my memoir chronicling my early years in a family defined by my father's gambling addiction. That book, "Father Knows Best" is now finished, and, so it seems, is my life. The cancers which have attacked various parts of my body for so many years have finally overwhelmed my resistance: I'm simply very tired of fighting.
But I've also now lost the daily support of my wonderful Howard, the love of my life, who has recently entered long-term care. I am grateful to be secure in the knowledge that he will be very well cared for as he drifts through a pain-free life of gentle dementia at Soldier's Memorial Hospital.
Howard and I have been truly blessed to each enjoy a fulfilling career which has enabled us to travel the world together as professional educators abroad, as well as simply inspired tourists. We've had some amazing adventures, and we have no regrets.
Our two successful adult children, Andrew and Lindsey, are devoted to us and to each other. Their young families are our pride and joy and there-in lies eternal life in its truest sense, I think.
Just a couple of months ago, Howard and I observed 60 years together, and 50 of those have unfolded in the century-old farmhouse in Auburn amongst the ancient trees and gardens. This home has evolved over the years into our beautiful "hospitality home" where we have shared so many happy times with you, our cherished friends. Remember those times and think of us.
I leave you with this: Mizpah is an ancient Hebrew blessing from Genesis which is loosely translated: - "May the Lord keep watch between me and thee while we are absent from one another"….in other words "until we are re-united in eternity."
This is the wish I leave with you, my dear friends who have so enriched my life.
My love always…..Lynda
