BRIGGS (REID), Lynette Allison 49yrs, of Edmonton, Alberta formerly Greenwood, NS passed away due to cancer on Thursday, December 2, 2010 in the Edmonton General Hospital. Born in Kentville, she was the daughter of Ivan Ike and Janet (Willoughby) Reid, Greenwood. Lynette graduated from West Kings District High School, Auburn and graduated from Nova Scotia Community College, Middleton. She then went on to attend Mount Saint Vincent University, Halifax where she graduated with her Bachelor of Commerce. During her accounting career Lynette was employed at Nova Scotia Savings and Loans, Halifax, Canadian Keys Fiber, Hantsport, Kingstec Community College, Kentville, T.R.A, Middleton and for 10 years with SERCO, Happy Valley-Goose Bay, Nfld. Lynette was proudest of her work with the S.P.C.A. Happy Valley-Goose Bay where she worked with the animals and helped raise a significant amount of money for the organization. In 2008, Lynette moved to Southport, Man and in her final days she moved to Edmonton, Alta to be close to her daughter and sister. Besides her parents, she is survived by her husband, Frank Briggs, Southport, Manitoba; her daughter, Jennifer Reid and her sister, Duwan (Edward) Stover both of Edmonton; her brothers, Scott (Tracy) Reid, Greenwood; Brad (Donna) Reid, Middleton and several nieces and nephews. Cremation has taken place. A memorial service will be held 2:00PM Tuesday, December 14, 2010 in the Middleton Funeral Home, 398 Main St., (902) 825-3448. Padre Earle Leslie officiating. A reception for family and friends will follow the service. Interment will be held in the Elm Grove Cemetery, Steam Mill. By request, family flowers only.
