GREENE, Mabel Clara 99 of Middleton, NS. It is with heavy hearts we announce the passing of a beautiful and much loved lady. Born on Glasgow Mountain, one of fourteen children to Fred and Leah (Bowden) Varner on June 13, 1911. Survived by her brother Aubrey (Leoda) Varner of York Settlement, NS, children Harold (Gene) Greene of Halifax, NS, David (Cathy) Greene of Mitchell, ON, Clark (Myrna) Greene of Lethbridge, AB, Judy (Malcolm) MacKenzie of Torbrook, NS and June Pigeon of Ottawa, ON, as well as fourteen grandchildren, each of whom knew they were her favourite; twenty seven great-grandchildren, and several great-great grandchildren and many nieces and nephews. Cherished by all. Besides her parents she was predeceased by brothers Stanley, Edmund, Lloyd, Claude, Medley, Harry (Bub), Roy, Laurie and (Maynard and Albert in infancy) and sisters Bernice (DeAdder) and Grace (Zwicker) and her husband of 54 years, Harold. We will always remember Mom/Gram for her fierce loyalty to family, her feisty nature, the mischievous twinkle in her eye when playing cards or telling the stories of her youth, and most of all, her unconditional love. Visitation will be held 7:00 to 9:00PM Friday, April 15, 2011 in the Middleton Funeral Home, 398 Main Street, (902) 825-3448 where the funeral service will be held 2:00PM Saturday, April 16, 2011, Rev. Robin McCoombs officiating. A reception for family and friends will follow the service. Interment will be in Pine Grove Cemetery, Middleton.
