Obituary

MacKENZIE, Malcolm John "Calum" ~ Age 81, Torbrook Mines, formerly of Middleton. With great sadness, we announce the passing of Malcolm "Calum" John MacKenzie in Soldiers Memorial Hospital, Middleton, on 3 March 2019. Born 5 January 1938 to Donald and Maggie MacKenzie, Malcolm spent the war years in his favourite place, on the Isle of Lewis, Scotland. In 1968, he brought his family to Canada and taught physical education at Middleton Regional High School and later retired as vice principal. Malcolm is survived by his wife of 39 years, Judy (née Greene); daughter, Eilidh; sons, Alasdair and Donald; stepson, David Cheney; stepdaughters, Nadine Cheney and Lana MacKenzie; seven grandchildren, three great-grandchildren, and his dog, Jack. Besides his parents, Malcolm was predeceased by his brothers, John and Donald. Cremation has taken place at Malcolm's request, and a memorial service will be held at a later date. Donations in Malcolm's memory can be given to Pancreatic Cancer Canada Foundation, Twelve Baskets Food Bank in Nictaux, NS, or the Rosa M. Harvey Library in Middleton, NS. Malcolm will be remembered for his patience and his quiet generosity. He will be sorely missed. Arrangements have been entrusted to Middleton Funeral Home, 398 Main Street, 902-825-3448.
