Obituary

KELLEY, Malcolm George – age 92, of Berwick, Kings Co., passed away on Monday, January 22, 2018, in Valley Regional Hospital, Kentville. Born in Cambridge, Kings Co., he was a son of the late George H. and Alice M. (Reeves) Kelley. Malcolm was a member of Christ Anglican Church, Berwick and was a veteran of the Second World War. He was a life member and Past President of the Royal Canadian Legion, Ortona Branch No. 69, Berwick, holding nearly every office, serving on many committees and received his Meritorious Service Medal and Palm Leaf. Malcolm owned and operated Kelley's Diner in South Berwick and later Kingston and along with his late wife owned and operated Helen's Restaurant in Aylesford. He retired as Manager of the Officers Mess at C.F.B. Greenwood. Malcolm will be sadly missed by his family, friends and community. Surviving are his children, Wayne (Kathy) Kelley, Calgary, Alta.; Cecil Kelley, Rockland; Beverly Wade (Karen) Kelley, Calgary, Alta.; Heather (Larry Grant) Baltzer, Clinton, Ont.; step-children, Jackie (Carroll) Yorke, Greenwood Square; Penny (John) Marshall, Kingston; Sandra (Gordon) Atwood, Berwick; Gary (Linda) Thomas, Calgary, Alta.; Bryan (Donna) Thomas, Somerset; several grandchildren, great grandchildren, step grandchildren, step great grandchildren; a great-great granddaughter; sisters, Velma Belliveau and Marjorie Murphy, Berwick; brother, Lawrence "Buster"  Kelley, Thamesford, Ont.; several nieces and nephews. Besides his parents, he was predeceased by his first wife, the former Isobel F. Carter; second wife, the former Helen M. Joudrey; a daughter in infancy; son, Danny Allistar Kelley; step-son, Reginald Hiltz; daughter-in-law, Marilyn Kelley; son-in-law, Wayne Baltzer; sisters, Mildred Jones, Gertrude Hersey and Jeannette Hicks; brothers, Cecil and Vincent Kelley. There will be no visitation. Royal Canadian Legion service and memorial service will take place at 2 p.m., Thursday, January 25, in Christ Anglican Church, 238 Commercial St., Berwick. Rev. Mel Malton officiating, assisted by Pastor Christina Bigelow. Interment will take place in Berwick Cemetery. Family flowers only, donations in his memory may be made to the Royal Canadian Legion, Ortona Branch No. 69, Berwick.
